Meta
One of the great things we can do in fandom is “meta”. For those not already acquainted; in a fandom context, “meta” is the term used to describe analysis; whether that is of the source material, ships, characters, or the fandom itself. It ranges from things like headcanons to theories to full essay style analysis to reviews.
So, what better place to talk about all your headcanons, theories and why your OTP is extremely real than your own website?
It’s up to you how you want to style your meta and what you want to write about.
Another thing you can do is liveblogs! Some people like to do these as an episode by episode/chapter by chapter review, but I tend to do a live reaction style. This is how I got started making my website, so you can check out the library and see what mine are like!
If you already do liveblogs elsewhere, consider backing them up to your website in case anything happens to your existing social media. There’s a lot of very smart people who can do these things with APIs and the like but, I’m gonna be real, most these socials APIs don’t work great for doing this. Trust me, I tested them. I’m aware there are some very cool and professional services out there to extract tweets and stuff so I recommend looking into those.
If you’re at your wits end, trying to get your liveblog thread off of the birdsite, nothing else is working: I have published what I used on itch.io for free.
